Immigration & Industry

Learn about significant sites and buildings in historic Uptown connected to European immigration to Saint John, including Partridge Island. The tour will discuss the arrival of European settlers and the businesses and trades they brought with them. Come along to hear about why Prince William Street is recognized as a Canadian National Historic Site.
Architecture & The Great Fire

On the afternoon of June 20, 1877 over 1,600 structures in Uptown Saint John were destroyed by what would come to be known as “The Great Fire”. This walking tour will explore structures that survived the blaze, some that were built after it, and how the event has shaped the city as it exists today.
